Stephen

Stephen is a surreal double presence: a portrait that may show two sides of an inner character or frame the enigmatic words, “weird thing all day.” Sweeping brushstrokes alternate with compact layers of paint, reinforcing the ambiguity of meaning. Overpainting shifts form and colour, as though Stephen flickers between identities. The bare edges leave process exposed. Stephen is both playful and strange, an exploration of how words, thoughts, and selves overlap.
